Pickup driver dies in crash

Excessive speed contributed to a single-vehicle crash on Roosevelt Boulevard that claimed the life of a Bridesburg man early Sunday, Philadelphia police said.

Kevin Turchi, 30, of the 2800 block of Pratt St., was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on the Boulevard at Bridge Street at 3:14 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, which flipped several times.

Turchi was ejected from the truck. Paramedics took him to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:39 a.m.

A witness reported seeing the truck traveling at a high rate of speed, police said. It is unknown if other factors contributed to the crash. ••
